Fullerton is important to me.  The people of Fullerton are important to me. I want to help build a safe city, with well-maintained roads, with top schools, with police and fire protection, with a thriving business environment, and most importantly, with compassion and support for all of our residents and visitors.  

With over a century of history in Fullerton, a common thread between the generations of my family  has been our dedication to our neighbors and a belief in the promise of our community. That community is the City of Fullerton.

 I aspire to live up to my family legacy and be an aggressive force for good for the city and people of Fullerton.  I will stand up for what is right and aim to bring our community together around compassion and common sense. 

  • My maternal grandfather was known in the community as "An Aggressive Force for Good." Despite his involvement in numerous community and civic organizations in Fullerton, he was arrested in 1924 for shouting down the speaker at a KKK rally in Amerige Park. A cross was burned on his front lawn that night.

    My paternal grandfather, a physician who delivered more than 3500 babies in Orange County over his 40+ year career, was known for not sending a bill during his lifetime.  It was not unusual for him to be paid with a bag of oranges or a chicken.

     My mother was born and raised in Fullerton. I was born in Fullerton. I raised my child here and sent them through Fullerton public schools from kindergarten through high school. I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in Economics.

    For several decades I have worked as a technology and management expert in the business world, supporting teams of all sizes in different industries from aerospace to telephony to mortgage lending to many aspects of the medical field.   For the last 11 plus years, I worked with a company focused on providing medical exams to veterans so they can get the disability benefits they deserve after their sacrifices to our country. 

    I bring a combination of managerial expertise and hands-on action to drive successful projects and help grow companies.  I will bring the same business savvy, economic focus and budgetary acumen to the City of Fullerton.  

    Fullerton is a great place to live, work and play.  Let’s work together to make our future even brighter.

Roads and infrastructure

Foundation for Growth: Well-maintained roads and infrastructure are vital for supporting economic development and improving quality of life through efficient transportation and services.

      • Maintenance and Upgrades: Prioritize the maintenance and improvement of roads, trails and public transportation systems. Advocate for sustainable infrastructure projects that reduce congestion and improve safety.

      • Technology Integration: Promote the use of smart technology to improve traffic flow and infrastructure efficiency, such as synchronized traffic lights and real-time traffic monitoring systems.

      • Funding and Partnerships: Seek state and federal funding opportunities for unique infrastructure projects that promote active transportation and user safety. 

      • Intelligent Planning: Work to balance immediate need for critical repairs with long term projects for maintenance and growth. 

Public safety

Ensuring a Safe Community: Public safety is crucial for maintaining the well-being and trust of residents, fostering a secure environment for families and businesses to thrive.

      • Community Policing: Advocate for community policing strategies that build trust between law enforcement and residents. Encourage programs that promote dialogue and understanding between officers and the communities they serve.

      • Resource Allocation: Ensure that Fire, Police and other public safety personnel have the resources they need, and that they are allocated efficiently, focusing on both prevention and response. Support training in de-escalation and mental health crisis intervention.

      • Emergency Preparedness: Enhance the city’s emergency preparedness programs to ensure quick and effective response times.

Fostering Connection: Building a strong sense of community encourages civic engagement and inclusivity, enhancing the overall vibrancy and resilience of Fullerton.

      • Community Engagement: Foster a sense of community through open forums, encouraging residents to participate in local decision-making processes.

      • Cultural and Recreational Programs: Support programs that celebrate Fullerton’s diverse cultural heritage and provide recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.

      • Volunteerism and Civic Pride: Promote volunteerism and initiatives that build civic pride, encouraging residents to contribute to community improvement projects.

You: My top priority is the people of Fullerton. As a member of the City Council, I will always make decisions with the well-being of the city and its residents as my foremost concern. I recognize that with over 140,000 residents, the future of Fullerton depends on each one of us. As a leader, I can help set direction, provide guidance, and offer some resources, but the ultimate success of our city lies in your hands. I challenge each of you to do one small thing every day to improve your community and your life. These small actions, when multiplied by 140,000, can lead to tremendous positive change.       • A few ideas:  

        • Give someone a word of encouragement or a smile

        • Pick up a piece of litter and carry it to a trash can or recycling bin

        • Shop at a local store or restaurant rather than going out of town

        • Leave a little extra tip for that local worker who provided great service

        • If you see something that needs fixing, either fix it, or report it to someone who can

        • Plant a flower in your front yard for people to enjoy 

        • Check in on an elderly neighbor

        • Help them with a simple task that is hard for them

        • Move your grocery cart out of the middle of the aisle

        • Bring it back to the corral when you are done

        • Park within the lines

        • Buy a cup of coffee for the next person in line 

        • Take a walk and wave to your neighbors

        • Stop and chat with them 

        • Get together with family and friends

        • Volunteer at one of the local groups 

        • Participate in a ‘clean up’ day for local park or public area, or just do some of it yourself and make today your personal clean-up day

        • Take care of your own health

        • Exercise a little more and eat a little less

        • Donate to charity 

        • Use your local library 

        • Visit a local park 

        • Visit the Fullerton Museum, consider becoming a member 

        • Attend events in town 

        • Take the bus or ride your bike for a short trip 

        • Read something new

        • Play with your kids 

        • Play with your pets 

        • Laugh out loud in public

        • VOTE!

Sustaining Services: A resilient city budget is crucial for sustaining essential services and infrastructure, securing long-term fiscal health and stability. I will leverage my decades of experience in budget creation and management from the business sector to benefit our city. Together, we will support our residents and invest in Fullerton's future without compromising its financial stability.

    • Long-Term Planning: Support long-term financial planning to ensure the city’s fiscal health, including building reserves for economic downturns and unexpected expenses.

    • Revenue Diversification: Explore diverse revenue sources, such as grants and partnerships, to enhance the city’s financial stability.

    • Intelligent Planning:  Balancing immediate needs with long term planning.  I will focus on prioritizing those critical needs for ongoing maintenance and support while providing a long-term vision for the future.  

Supporting businesses

Economic Vitality: Supporting local businesses is essential for job creation and economic growth, contributing to a prosperous and sustainable local economy.  Businesses create jobs and provide revenue to our city. Residents and visitors provide customers to those businesses. 

      • Small Business Support: Identify and promote programs that support small businesses, such as providing access to grants and business development resources.

      • Local Economy: Encourage residents to shop locally and bring visitors to our businesses through awareness campaigns and support events that showcase local businesses and products.

Housing and Homelessness

Addressing Critical Needs: Tackling housing affordability and homelessness is key to ensuring that all residents have access to safe and stable living conditions.

      • Affordable Housing: Support the development of affordable housing projects that meet the needs of diverse income levels while maintaining the character of existing neighborhoods.

      • Homelessness Solutions: Collaborate with local organizations and regional partners to implement comprehensive homelessness solutions, including access to mental health services, job training, and other services. 

      • Intelligent Planning: Review projects and initiatives that have been successful in other cities in the US and around the world.  Balance the need for immediate support for people in crisis with longer term planning to lift people permanently out of homelessness.
